The story of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce dates back to 1884 when it was known as the Jacksonville Board of Trade where the focus was to create a positive environment for businesses and to promote the place as an efficient port. In 1915 its name was officially changed to the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.

Over the years the Chamber has widened its activities and in 1991 the Chamber was responsible in creating 64807 new jobs for the people and also brought about a capital investment of $3.3 billion. In 2002 the name was again changed and was called Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce.
